The Joker has taken control of the DCUO Facebook page and is withholding vital information on our next DLC pack, the Last Laugh!

As you may know, next week is Legends Week here at DCUO, but we won’t be able to release any more information until the Joker is dealt with! It’s up to all of you to unravel his scheme and discover what secret codewords will get him to reveal what he knows. He has dispatched agents into the game to cause chaos and destruction, but also with clues to what those codewords are. Defeat them, learn their clues, and return to the DCUO Facebook page with the answers to learn more about DLC4, The Last Laugh!

We suspect you will be able to find these agents in game at the following times and places. Please note that all events will happen in the PvP phase!

EU PC – Monday, May 21st, 2012 – Metropolis – 12:00-1:00 p.m. PDT (9:00-10:00 p.m. GMT)

US PC – Tuesday, May 22nd, 2012 – Metropolis – 12:00-1:00 p.m. PDT

EU PS3 – Wednesday, May 23rd, 2012 – Gotham City – 12:00-1:00 p.m. PDT (9:00-10:00 p.m. GMT)

US PS3 – Thursday, May 24th, 2012 – Gotham City – 12:00-1:00 p.m. PDT

Once you’ve defeated one of the Joker’s agents and solved the clue, return to the Facebook page and post it on the wall! When the correct codewords have been posted, we will be able to slowly reveal more information about the Last Laugh!

***Again, ALL events will take place on the PvP phase of each server. You can phase to PvP in your headquarters at any time!***

The Last Laugh is a Player vs. Player (PvP) focused DLC Pack, but one major component is the addition of the all new weapon, Shield, which can be used in all areas of the game. Everyone who gets the DLC Pack (either in the Marketplace or with a Legendary Membership) will get access to Shield’s whole new weapon tree and the chance to use these amazing new weapons. Bash your enemies into next week with brutal melee attacks, or throw your shield and knock them out from a distance!

One of the things we’re really excited about is how free flowing the Shield weapon combos feel, allowing you to adjust your plan of attack on the fly. With Shield, you can throw down a finishing move at any point in your attack chain, and the number of attacks you’ve made up until that point determines which finisher you get. This means you can start off with a finisher (or, a melee hold) and hit someone good with a Spinning Backhand, but you can also choose to bash twice (melee tap), then hold, to perform a Leaping Stab. (Don’t try that one at home. It’s quite painful.)

Of course, tapping more before your finisher means a more powerful move, like the Overhead Plate Smash (four times) or the Handspring Kick (seven times), just to name a few. Stay unpredictable, adapt on the fly, and use your Shield to bring the pain when you’re in the thick of the battle!

Now, it just wouldn’t be a proper Shield if you couldn’t stand back and throw it at the good guys. I mean, bad guys. Of course I meant bad guys. And, you know, you’d be a pretty silly hero if once you threw your Shield, it just bounced away and you lost it. That’s why you can always count on your Shield to fly true to your target and then ricochet back to you. For added fun, it will hit anything in its path, too, so use your positioning to your advantage and aim wisely!

After years of hard work on Starhawk, I am wicked excited to finally announce that Starhawk has gone gold and will be on store shelves in PAL regions from 9th May. GOOOOOAAAAALLLL….D!

Starhawk is not your normal off-the-shelf shooter. We’ve certainly taken some chances with this game, but it’s gonna be worth it: The Build & Battle system alters the traditional shooter recipe in such a way that when you play other shooters, you may find yourself frustrated that you can’t build bunkers, walls, outposts, and all the other stuff that Starhawk lets you build. So if you’re a shooter fan looking for a change of pace, definitely pick up Starhawk!

Nothing ever comes easy though, and integrating Build & Battle certainly took a bunch of iteration and refinement, both internally during production here at LightBox Interactive, and also during our private and public betas. You guys were really great beta testers, so as a “thank you” for your participation, we’re giving you two exclusive items.

The first is The Hand of the Founder. It’s an exclusive character accessory for anyone who played in the BETA. It’s a gold, glowing, atom-looking thing that is bonded to your right hand. It’s intended to be a way to show off to your friends and everyone else online that you were one of Starhawk’s founders. That you had a hand in its creation!

The second item is the Warhawk Paint Set. It includes two exclusive vehicle paint schemes that you can use to customize any of your vehicles in Starhawk. Sometimes I just don’t know how players come up with their hilarious track names. Some cute, some insane, some more insane and some are simply insanely creative. I can attest to experiencing at least four spits takes and two milk-through-the-nose blurts, and one memorable “trip to the cleaners” in my time as community manager.

ModNation Racers Grand Prix 2012

Sign up’s begin this week for the ModNation Racers Gran Prix 2012 Racing Championship. The first set of qualifying races will be held on the weekend of May 12-13th. Racers will have the chance to qualify on a pre-determined United Front Games track to be hosted in Hot Lap all weekend. The top five fastest lap times (of those signed up) will automatically be entered into the finals. One racer from the MNR Vita community will also qualify for one of the 11 spots! The remaining five spots for the finals will be decided the following week. Check HEREfor more info on how to participate.

ModNation Racers Hot Lap Track of the Week – UFG SKATE by punishthem420

Dude created a skatepark!

This is a very fast and fun race and, to my amazement, punishthem420 has replicated a real-life genuine skate park to a tee! Grind rails, ramp angles, box spacing and even banner placement felt so real I couldn’t believe it. It’s not pretty like many other tracks this week but the detail and “nailing” of the whole park (pool, parking lot, etc..) have to be rewarded.
